The 2nd Annual Gloucester Fisherman Sprint Triathlon takes place on August 8, 2010 at 7:30 am. The race begins with a 1/3 mile swim at Pavillion Beach followed by a short run up to the Transition Area. Racers will then bike 11.68 miles on a gorgeous rolling and scenic bike course. Following the bike course is a fast and spectator friendly run course. A 5k in the heart of downtown Gloucester with the Finish Line right on Main Street in front of hundreds of screaming fans.
In addition to our age group awards, the Gloucester Fisherman Triathlon will be offer a $3,000.00 Prize Purse to the Top 5 Male and Female in the Elite/Pro Division.
The Gloucester Fisherman's Triathlon is brought to you by the Gloucester Fishermen Athletic Association.
Gloucester Fisherman Triathlon Block Party
The block party follows the Triathlon on August 8th on Gloucester's Main Street, which will be closed off to vehicular traffic from Pleasant Street to Washington Street, and begins around 1 pm. There will be entertainment, dancing in the streets, al fresco dining, belly dancing, slide shows and more...
Merchants will be offering specials to Triathlon athletes.
The festivities continue through the afternoon and evening culminating in a Cinema Under the Stars outdoor movie on the inflatable screen in the Blackburn Parking Lot at approximately 8:30 pm.

Become a Part of Team Wellspring competing in the Triathlon
Since 1981, Wellspring House has provided adult education and job training, mentoring programs, housing advocacy and emergency shelter to help individuals and families on Cape Ann and the North Shore move out of poverty and live more fulfilling lives. Today, Wellspring serves over 2,000 parents and children each year and provides both emergency responses and long term solutions to homelessness and poverty.
If you are interested in raising money for Wellspring by participating in the GFAA Triathlon (either as an individual or a member of a relay team) please contact Romy Gardner below. The registration fee will be waived. Recommended fundraising goal: $1,000 per team or individual entry.
